Food and/or alcohol triggers

After a fainting spell and several tests, a doctor told me that I was “boringly normal” and that the episode was probably due to a vv response. I am a 28 year old male and I started having vv episodes in 1993. In my case, it seems like there are distinct triggers. Typically, I will have just eaten a large meal and had a small amount of alcohol (such as one or two bottle beers or one margarita). I can now tell when I’m going to faint. It’s hard to describe, but I typically get the tunnel vision described here. I’m usually out for about 10 to 15 seconds, don’t stop breathing and when I come to, I usually vomit about 5 to 15 minutes later.

My concern is that it is something more than vv. I’m concerned it might be anxiety related, diabetes or perhaps alcohol is the trigger (possibly allergic)?

My question is – how do you get your physician to rule out the other possibilities? And has anyone else experienced these triggers?
