My son was passing out and not breathing from the time he was 18 months old. I used to panic and give him breath and call the medics. By the time the medics arrived my son was breathing again and just a little dizzy. We had so many tests over 15 years and each test proved to be more frustrating because we still did not have any answers. Each time this happened I prayed that he would start breathing again and that when he had his "spells" that he wasn't in a vulnerable place. He just dropped. Many times he got hurt in the process, bruises and such. Finally, at our wits end, his doctor and myself, we scheduled an appointment for him to wear a heart monitor. The kind that he could push a button if he felt like a "spell" was coming on. While in the clinic learning how to work the monitor, my son had one of his spells. The medics were called and we went to the hospital emergency room where he could be hooked up to the monitors for his heart and breathing. The emergency room doctor and I got into an argument because I was telling him what would happen to my son and he was telling me 'no it didn't'. Needless to say, my son had another spell and we were able to get tape. The emergency room doctor was very nasty as he apologised to me, as I was right. Fortunately, for my son, the heart doctor who specialized in this area, happened to be in the hospital that day. When he was done with his surgery, he did the table test on my son. Verified his assumptions that he might have Vagal problems and prescribed the Florineff. I need to tell you that my son was finally diagnosed before he had to start drivers education at the age of 15 and a half. I had been praying to the lord we would be able to find out what was wrong before he had to start driving. We did. He still has a spell now and then, but not as often, and not as severe since taking the medication.
