I totally sympathise with you for feeling like a hypochondriac, I visited my doctor about 10 times before I demanded he refer me to a specialist! As he couldn't see what was wrong, he figured nothing was wrong. I often wake in the night feeling extremely hot and either feeling nauseas or having to go to the bathroom. I tend to make myself really cold, until I am shivering, this makes me feel better and I quite often go back to sleep fairly easily - after constantly jigging my foot under the covers. If I feel an attack coming on (usually if I'm hungry) I eat a banana. This was recommended to me by a dietician, it's best to eat the less ripe ones as they are less sugary. Eating something that is high in sugar often makes it worse - as it only acts as a quick fix, carbohydrates have a more lasting effect. Hope this is helpful to you, and remember - you're not alone!
