During the "prep" for a colonoscopy, and after 6 hours of emptying my colon, I then had to take 4 Dulcolax tablets (Doctor's orders). Within an hour after taking them, I started having severe cramps, and then became violently nauseous and staggered and collapsed. Paramedics were called and revived me, but then it reoccurred while the EMS team was here (so they tell me!) and I was rushed to the hospital emergency room in an ambulance. The doctors say it was a vaso vagal reaction brought on by the assault on the colon, and that my heart beat dropped, thus causing the passing out. It's VERY scary, since I don't know what would've happened had my husband not been there to catch me and call the EMS team. I'd like to learn more about this syndrome.
