lorrain, a good Doctor should be able to tell a panic attack from fainting or pre fainting spells. yes they are similiar, but diffently not the same. If you feel your Doctor is not listening to you......fire him! There are plenty of Doctors out there. Some with symptoms start by seeing a cardioligist or neuroligist. Explain your symptoms on this site and maybe someone else will be able to direct you.

Good Luck and keep in touch.
