I have had the fainting/chest pain most of my life. I was finally diagnosed with neurally mediated syncope/or hypotension, and a mytral valve prolapse. The first drug I was given, a beta-blocker, called Toprol-did not work. I became totally lathargic and unable to even move by 2:00 pm. Since I need to be able to move around and function, we stopped that drug. I have had help from taking natural treatments: Evening primrose oil, horsechestnut, ginko and butcher's broom really help me with the dizziness. If I run out of a couple of these, the dizziness returns right away. Evening primrose oil (500mg) am & pm only; no more than that-can be toxic in large amounts. Lately I have had more symptoms than these things can handle, so I saw another doctor. Now I am trying pro-amatine. I am concerned about the side-effects of cold, tingling extremeties. Do you notice an increased problem with this? Any other side effects that you have had? My daughter suffers with this same problem, and she is on Florinef; a steriod that tells the body to retain salt/water. So far it has helped raise her blood pressure a few points, which is what she needs. My e.mail address is (micknrob@iwon.com)
