Hi Gary, I'm sure it was scary for you. A similar thing happened to me, and my husband was the unfortunate one to witness it twice in a little over a year. I then had a tilt-table test and was diagnosed with vaso-vagal. In my case my heart also stopped for about a minute, so it was a rather serious case. I was advised to get a pacemaker, and just got it two weeks ago and am doing well. I would say you should probaly go to a cardiologist who is familiar with vaso-vagal syndrome (not all of them know a lot about it), and get a tilt-table test so you will know if that is what she is experienceing. Many people seem to control it well with a high salt diet and a lot of water every day, so she might make an extra effort to be sure and do that. Best of luck to you!
