In the past three months I have had two episodes of syncope brought on by swallowing and aggravated esopogeal response. The first time I had been sitting calmly drinking a small mixed drink and then ice water. I suddenly had a horrible burning sensation in the base of the esophagus and my vision became blurred over the next few minutes, I became tachycardic and had several episodes of syncope. Recently I went to the local hospital for an upper gi and after taking the gas crystals and drinking the barium I began to faint when the table was brought upright. I had four syncopal episodes and was admitted to the hospital. I was run through all types of heart tests , orthostatics and blood work. I was never really given a clear diagnosis and was told to double the Prevacid that I had recently started taking and to drink Mylanta. any ideas?
