My sister suffers from this and is really depressed at the moment because doctors and specialists dont seem to making any progress with treatment and they conflict in their attitudes to treatment. They are very dismissive of the symptoms and she feels they are not taking her seriously. She has been on beta blockers and steroids. Her symptoms include not being able to walk far without feeling ill. A light headed feeling comes over her and she goes white. Her blood pressure doesnt always drop though, when she has these attacks. THis we know because her specialist gave her a blood pressure machine to use during an attack. She suffers from severe headaches and these can last for days and thoroughly tire her out physically and mentally. She also suffers from terrible indigestion and a tight chest. One of the doctors say that could be a reaction to her tablets, but she doesnt seem to be getting anywhere. They have offered her prozac but she is not depressed, just frustrated. She is not able to work and because it is not a recognised illness, cannot claim invalidity benefit. Does anyone have any suggestions to a) get someone to take her seriously. b)long term prognosis, as she can see no light at the end of the tunnel. Grateful thanks for reading this.
