vaso-vagal syndrome

I'm a healthy young man, but yesterday I fainted and heard about vaso-vagal syndrome for the first time. Trying to find out more about it I found this site - amongst other sites. Whereas it's fine to say - as some sites do - that in itself vv and fainting are relatively harmless, falling is NOT. And that's what fainting leads to: falling! I now have 15 stitches in my face and 7 inside my mouth because I fell against the bathroom door and it perforated my left cheek! If I didn't happen to have a friend staying over, I don 't know what would've happened...

How can I prevent it from happening again?

This web site is not a substitute for a thorough medical evaluation and diagnosis of your vaso-vagal type symptoms.  Medical treatment and diagnosis is the only acceptable initial response to these serious symptoms since they might present from any number of life threatening and treatable illnesses. It is for you and your physician to rule out more serious illnesses; Please don't use this online forum as an alternative to getting responsible medical attention and being under the care of a physician for the duration of any unknown, suspected or dangerous vaso-vagal syndrome symptoms.
