Don't try to keep your son from fainting when he has one of these episodes. Although it is frightening, I know, my doctor tells me that fainting is actually the short term "cure" for vaso vagal. After you faint, your blood pressure will return to normal in a very short time. I've read that it is dangerous to prop up a fainting person; better to lie them down and get their feet higher than their head. I know your first instinct with a child is to hold them, but it is much better to lie them down .
