from the internet, I found out that if you have an intense fear of something this can happen..the fear raises your blood pressure..the act (blood gas) of it causes your blood pressure to drop drastically, causing you to faint. It went on to say, that you need to conquer the fear to prevent this rapid blood pressure change..you can have the blood drawn while lying down (this should keep your blood pressure under control..or you can tense your muscles in an attempt to keep your blood pressure from dropping..Nothing bad will happen to you by having the test, but if you continue to fear it, you may contionue to have the vaso vagal response.

My attacks began to happen when i was in the 4th grade. I was in school and suddnely blacked out while walking. Right after I came back I began to vomit. A few years later I became ill and in the middle of the night I would get up to go vomit in the bathroom but before i made it there i fainted, this happned 3 times that night. It seemed like the reoccurence would happen every three years or so. One of the worst times i fainted 10 times within a 10 hr time. The worst happned my summer before my freshamn year of college, i awoke to use the restroom in the middle of the night. I felt fine but when i sat on the toliet I became very nauesa and the next thing i know i was on the floor. I had split my eyebrow open and haad to get stiches. Shortly after that i saw some doctors and I had a EEG, EKG, MRI, and a holter monitor test down and everything was normal they told me i was healthy. It has gotten to the point where iam scared tobe alone when i feel like this b/c i havent vomited without fainting sicne i was a child. I do know that alchol does induce my fainting spells. What are the treatments and is it probable that i do have vaso vagal? jen8639@aol.com
