Sylvia, I hope you've read my postings re: irritable bowel syndrome and vaso-vagal episodes. I am convinced that the pain that we are experiencing due to the colon being in acute spasm is causing these incidents. My doc (I've seen him for 20 years and he is best in his field) says the colon can "mimic" a heart attack. From reading other people's postings, I am sure some vaso-vagal epiosodes occur because of heart problems, but mine are definitely related to severe colon spasm. You say you're 74, have you noticed this getting any worse or better as you age?
I think the pain is worse than childbirth, what do you say?
I HAVE BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH VASO-VAGEL ABOUT 5 YEARS AGO I HAVE BEEN PASSING OUT SINCE I WAS 2 YEARS OLD I HAVE BEEN ON SEVERAL MEDICATIONS IT HELPS FOR A WHILE THEN THE EPISODES START AGAIN I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT DOCTORS DO NOT HAVE ANY IDEA HOW TO REALLY CONTROL THIS PROBLEM THEY CAN ONLY JUST KEEP ON TRYING DIFFERENT MEDICATIONS TO SEE IF ANY OF THEM WORK TO STOP THE PASSSING OUT SO FAR NOTHING HAS COMPLETELY CONTOLLED IT FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME IT IS VERY SCARY I HATE TO EVEN BE ALONE OR DRIVE IT IS VERY HARD FOR ME TO DEAL WITH THIS IT IS HARD TO LIVE WITH I JUST TRY TO THINK IT COULD BE SOMETHING WORSE SO I JUST WANTED TO SAY HANG IN THERE TO EVERYONE HOPEFULLY ONE DAY THEY WILL COME UP WITH AN ANSWER TO HELP US ALL!!! PLEASE WRITE IF ANY COMMENTS TO UTGIRL74@AOL.COM --KIM
