I'm sorry your father killed himself.

I obviously don't know the answer to your question but maybe he kept his illness secret because there is stigma associated with the condition - that people need to try harder and it will go away (think about the stereotype of someone who faints). It is sad but maybe he was afraid you would see him in that light. There are people who I have told who have said to me it's impossible I faint because I don't look the type to be so 'silly about things'.

Maybe it was the only way he could deal with it?
