I'm a 47 year-old female who has suffered from strange "attacks" on day 1 of my menstrual period ever since the first time I had my period at age 11. No one of the 5 gynecologists I've seen nor the 8 primary care physicians have ever either a) taken me seriously, or b) been able to provide an answer to this baffling phenomenon, until today. A young intern, a neurologist in training, diagnosed me with vaso-vagal syndrome when I sought evaluation for what I believed were seizures. I had to beg my PCP to send me to a neurologist. I am astonished that I have never heard of this before, but this is precisely and exactly what has happened to me, month-in and month-out for most of the 36 years that I've been in my childbearing years. Amazing. Thanks for this forum, it is wonderful.
