Dear Richard, I think your episodes are very much like mine have always been. I'm just a little older at 60, and female, so mine were often connected with a menstral period when I was younger. They have always been associated with a bowel movement and severe cramping. I too have always had to have a wet washcloth if someone was with me or if I was able to get up from the stool. This is impossible most of the time if my attack comes on real fast or is real severe. I just found this website after many years of having this problem. You can see my posting on 9/30/06. Sometimes I have gone for several years with no problem and then I might have several fairly close together. I have found it interesting to hear about the possibility of dehydration and getting overheated in some of the discussions. Keeping our wits and remembering not to risk a bad fall seems to be my biggest worry now also, since I took a very hard fall last year. I thought I was going to have to call 911 and was worried about the doors all being locked!!! That was all I could think about and that ended up being really, really stupid! I was okay though after the fall and waking up, but it sure showed me how important not risking a fall is! After having these same attacks for so many years, I know they won't kill me, but it sure makes me feel better to know there is a name and other people just like me.
