Prior to going for cardiac surgery you should be sure they have fully explained everything in "regular people" terms and not medical terms. If you still have questions ask for a second opinion. Any great physician will be comfortable with that. There is an article on Neurocardiogenic Syncope at http://www.hrtcare.com/neurosyn.asp that I found very helpful.
