I have had a dozen episodes in the last 3 to 4 years but they are quite severe. It starts with a feeling of nausea and makes me want to be get down on the floor. I have vomited, had bowel movements, and always have very,very severe abdominal pain. The episodes last nearly an hour - I have never been to the ER or called 911 because I literally cannot move and I live alone. I had a lot of tests when it started mostly looking for a "female" connection as the episodes always occurred on the first day of my period. nothing found, my GP said maybe in was VV. Then my periods stopped and I went over a year without an episode. But due to some post menopausal bleeding, I was having a test done at the dr's office - it's the pelvic ultrasound but with saline injections - and after the procedure, after I was dressed and ready to leave, I went into an episode. It was the first time that a dr. saw me. It lasted 45 minutes, they ended up starting an IV which seemed to bring me out of it, my BP dropped to 60/40. Sorry this was so long but my questions are 1) Has anyone else experienced their first VV episodes with menopause - I have never fainted or felt lightheaded or anything ever until menopause and 2) I am scheduled for a hysteroscopy and D&C and very scared that I will end up having an episode - any advice? Oh, also, about a year before my first attack, I had my thyoid radiated due to hyperthyroidism. Any connection?
