local anesthetic and VV

I am not afraid of going to the dentist or doctor. But the minute they use the anesthetic I get a feeling like a wave starting at my knees and going toward my head. They usually lay me back and then there's another wave that is stronger that happens a couple of minutes later. They say it's not like an allergic reaction, but my BP and pulse drops, I get grey, but never have fainted. It just feels like I'm going to die. Any suggestions??
