Re: Vaso-Vagal during bowel movement

From: J

As a mother of a mildly retarded young man who does not at this point have VV, I read your article with interest. I am the one in the family who has had VV a very long time - I think maybe since my 20's but it wasn't diagnosed at the time. I think you are making all the right connections though. I can't say enough about staying away from drinks with caffeine yet keeping hydrated with water or V8 juice, or when you feel weakish, drinking gatorade. Sometimes these episodes just can't be controlled - like if the trigger is pain, or a diiffcult BM, or getting eyes dilated, or getting up too quickly.

This web site is not a substitute for a thorough medical evaluation and diagnosis of your vaso-vagal type symptoms.  Medical treatment and diagnosis is the only acceptable initial response to these serious symptoms since they might present from any number of life threatening and treatable illnesses. It is for you and your physician to rule out more serious illnesses; Please don't use this online forum as an alternative to getting responsible medical attention and being under the care of a physician for the duration of any unknown, suspected or dangerous vaso-vagal syndrome symptoms.
