I work in a hospital and it is in their occupational health policies and as I am in a position of responsibility for people they are fully within their rights to check my medications. Essentially SRRI is there because SRRI is used to treat severe depression and therefore a person should not be in work and should be in a psychiatric program. I can understand where they are coming from with that.
My previous specialist was in this hospital and told my GP that this is a disease only crazy people get (and he is the person occupational health would ask about my condition NOT my current specialist). He has repeadly told them and me that if I continue to make myself ill I am to be sectioned (locked in psychiatric hospital) until I admit I make myself ill. If my current consultant puts me on SRRI it will appear he is supporting this option, I will be sectioned and I will lose my job that way. That is why I need strong evidence to produce saying SRRI treats the physical problem not mental problem.
Even if I didn't tell my employer (and risked losing my job) my GP would find out from the specialist and I would still face sectioning and losing my job.
Becca.
