In August 2004 I was rushed to the hospital. I am a volunteer on the emergency squad in my community as an EMT-B. I was at home and had fallen asleep on the couch early. I woke up about 1AM and went to the bathroom while my husband still was up watching TV. I don't remember feeling bad when I got up just that I had to go to the bathroom before heading off to bed. While in there I began to feel bad. I yelled for my husband and just told him, in an urgent voice, that I was sick and needed HELP. I plead with him to call the medic on our department and then I don't recall anything from there. He said that I asked him to step out that I was going to be sick and then I hit the floor. He came back into the room and said that I was on my hands and knees screaming, my face was yellow, the rest of my skin was blood red and my eyes were blood shot and huge. He said that I asked to be put back of the toilet and became sick. I lost control of my bowls. Yuk I know but I don't remember any of it. He said that my breathing became real labored and I wasn't passing much air. My husband and daughter are both volunteer firefighters so he did some quick thinking and got an epi pin and gave my a shot. I am allergic to bees and assumed that I got stung. Somewhere in there he called 911 and the squad got here. We are about 30 min. from the ER and the medic on our squad is good. Thank God. They couldn't get a blood pressure on me and I was in respertory arrest. They bagged me all the way to the hospita. I never regained consciousness enroute. They did several test MRI, CT scan, etc. I woke up sometime after being at he ER for a long period but only briefly. I woke the next morning in the Intensive Care Unit. They never figured out anything. I switch doctors after being released and my new doctor send me for the tilt test. I am not sure if all of what happened to me is related to my Vasodepressor syncope or not what do you all think?
