My Experiences

The onset of my Vaso Vagal response is always preceded by a sprained ankle or arm. This happenned a few times in the past ten years when I twisted my ankle and very recently when I pulled a muscle in my forearm. In each case I was aware of some sort of build up to what would eventually be me passing out - for about a few minutes as reported by my wife.

While I describe the experience as "passing out", I seemed to have maintained some level of conscious awareness during the incident but I was unable to communicate or or recognize the people and surroundings that I was in. In the last case that would be at home with my wife and kids.

Everything seemed familiar like the large painting of pears that I made for our kitchen. I remember seeing this painting, which was in reality, right in front of me, but I did not recognize it as my work perse - just that it was familiar and comforting.

When the paramedics mentioned the Vaso Vagal response to pain I decided to look it up on the net. This was the first time I even new this was experienced by others. I plan to read a lot of the experiences from others that are posted on this site.

Please e-mail me any information that you think may help.
