vasovagel or food poisoning

How do you differentiate between the two? I had just eaten and felt nauseous,dizzy and I had to get to a bathroom. On the way I blacked out fell broke my nose and shattered all my top teeth.I was sent to the ER who reported that I had vasovagel symptoms.Needless to say the place where I fell wants no responsibility for my injuries.was it fodd poisoing or a vasovagel episode?
