Is there always a cause for caso vagal

After a few years of consistently getting dissy and then progreesing into frequent passing out, last year I finally worked the courage up to go to the doctors to see what was wrong with me. I was so scared that it would be something serious. They did a few test and sent me for a tilt table testing and within 5 minutes I pasted out from that. They diagnosed me with vaso vagal and put me on a medicine that made this very much worse. The doctor that i was seeing ran no other test to see what was causing this and gave no explaination as to why. My question is this...is there allways a cause, or is it simply that you pass out a lot, and what are the affects that this has on your body? And without medicine or further medical attention, could this be fatal?
