Yes to the fact that I tried meds and couldn't stand the side effects. My episodes come in cycles and I have months without any problems - even years.I had a doozy of a VV last December and felt very susceptible for many months and had to stave off full faints wi th all the techniques that have been mentioned in this forum. Then the symptoms subsided. I continue to be attuned to when I am dehydrated, even if it's something like drinking too much diet soda or coffee; I try to drink water or green tea. When I am sick I pump that water in me whether I feel like it or not. I try to get up very slowly if I wake up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom. You can't control everything. One of my triggers is abdominal pain and I think I have avoided a full faint on occasion by doing my best not to panic, taking a stool softener if needed (that takes time), breathing techniques, etc. Anyway, I lead a normal life - work, drive, have a family, take trips on planes, etc.
