Re: syncopy or seizure

I'm sorry this happened to your daughter. It is possible to shake some. I was actually misdiagnosed with epilepsy for abut 20 years. From what I've read, the most distinguishing "observable" factor for seizure v syncope is that if there is confusion after you "come to" then it's very likely seizure, if she was pretty alert - understood who she was and all, then more likely syncope. If you do a google search on seizure versus syncope you should come up with some site that help distinguish the two. It's not so easy - as in my case, even the doctors got it wrong!
This web site is not a substitute for a
thorough medical evaluation and diagnosis of your vaso-vagal type symptoms. Medical
treatment and diagnosis is the only acceptable initial response to these serious symptoms
since they might present from any number of life threatening and treatable illnesses. It
is for you and your physician to rule out more serious illnesses; Please don't use this
online forum as an alternative to getting responsible medical attention and being under
the care of a physician for the duration of any unknown, suspected or dangerous vaso-vagal
syndrome symptoms.
