My guess is that most of us are people who are used to being in control of everything. I think that this personality characteristic contributes to the condition. As far as pain thresholds, well, I can say that mine is very high, yet Dr's offices tend to trigger me too. I've had my share of surguries and medical problems in the past. I suppose fears of relapse or something else stimulates this fight or flight response. You have to do what you have to do...ie blood work etc for your job. Some things are not negotiable. Try using different self talk...ie, if i'm going to pass out this is a safe place to do it... I wish you luck!
