Suzanne: The same type of nausea, diarrhea, and blackouts--and the need to lay down wherever I happened to be!-- happened to me for years and years. I have passed out in bathrooms, offices, restaurants, subways. It was triggered by menstrual cramps (for 25 years before menopause) and hot flashes (during pre-menopause) and the associated hormonal ups and downs. I have other blackouts (without all the other symptoms) from sudden drops in blood pressure due to overexercising or extreme pain; this problem was diagnosed as vaso vagal hypotension. I believe the two are related--the hormonal changes trigger the vaso vagal response. Guess what - the worst of the problems ended with menopause! Life is much easier now! So there is hope!
