I was so pleased to read this site today. I have been passing out since i was in kindergarten from blood tests. I am now 32 and just passed out yesterday at the Dr. Everytime I get a blood test I have passed out. I cannot talk about blood tests or blood or I start to feel as if I am passing out. As soon as I walk into a hospital or Dr.'s office I can feel the anxiety starting. I dread going to the Dr. each year. No one understands how traumatic a feeling this is. It is not simply "fainting" the feelings and anxiety around it are awful. My Dr. told me last year (after I passed out in the lobby) that I had a Vagal Nerve and it was a condition and I was not going to grow out of it like my Dr's told myself and my mother growing up. I well know the symptoms and even though the technicians sometimes scoff when I say i pass out from a finger prick, I insist I have to lay down. It is a very draining experience and after I pass out I am very tired and go home to lay down. It is comforting to know that others suffer from this condition which is out of our control.
