Your profile is much like mine. I am in my 60's and have fainted several times over the last 25 years - maybe longer but did not know my symptoms were VV at the time. I printed the stuff out for my own doctor that I got off the Mayo Clinic web page (key word 'faint'). I think he might have taken offense when I did that but I think I got his attention. Also, when I fainted in San Diego in December my doctor was inundated with emergency treatment reports he could not ignore. Triggers and treatments seem to vary widely. i'd switch doctors if I couldn't find a sympathetic one. I was happy at ruling out all the scarier possibilities. I am happy with not being on any meds. I tried some 15 years ago and did not like the way they made me feel, but others feel like they are not able to function without them.

This web site is not a substitute for a thorough medical evaluation and diagnosis of your vaso-vagal type symptoms.  Medical treatment and diagnosis is the only acceptable initial response to these serious symptoms since they might present from any number of life threatening and treatable illnesses. It is for you and your physician to rule out more serious illnesses; Please don't use this online forum as an alternative to getting responsible medical attention and being under the care of a physician for the duration of any unknown, suspected or dangerous vaso-vagal syndrome symptoms.
