my husband was diagnosed with vaso vagal syndrome just yesterday. Here is his history... Past history of passing out when blood is being drawn, being in a hospital, anything associated with a hospital. He hadnt been feeling well so off to the emergency room we went for blood tests and chest x rays. All that was negative for his heart. He was admitted for the nite to have a stress test done the next day. At 5 am the next morn in the hospital he was having his blood drawn and began to feel nauseasa, light headed and sick to his stomach. He then passed out and his heart rate diminished to a flat line for 25 seconds. Fortunately he was in the hospital and was given medication to jump start his heart. Then next day he was given a pacemaker. Turns out he had a viral infection that made the episode even worse. Doctors say he has had this since childhood. The episode was triggered by anxiety due to a having his blood drawn, being in the hospital. This is the explanation what was given to us by the cardiologist. Scarry, but we are so grateful he was in the hospital when this happened.
