I am 29 years old. I have had three cases, in times of high stress, where I have passed out and had seizures. The first time it happened was when I was 12 and I got blood taken from a vein for the first time at the doctor's office. The needle went in and I fell out. The second was when I was going in for a test at the hospital, I passed out at check in and seized. The last time, I was visiting my mother in the hospital as she was dying. I have had less severe episodes over the years where I can tell that I am going to pass out. I get flushed and hot, my breathing gets fast and shallow and if I cannot sit and focus on my breathing, it's lights out. The breathing, slow and drawn out, really seems to help the most. It is a very scary thing. No one has ever been able to explain this syndrome to me and I find very little information on any site online. The Mayo clinic site, www.mayoclinic.com, which I normally turn to for medical questions doesn't even have a single listing on this. Doctor's that I have asked about this tend to shrug it off as a trivial thing. It is no trivial thing to those that it effects. I realize after seeing some of the excerpts on this site, that I have it pretty good compared to others. Hopefully, this will help others who are curious and finding little help. Thanks for having this site.
