Thank God for this forum! For the past 5 months, once a month out of the blue I have had episodes where I have sudden onset of diarrhea, get very hot, the palms of my hands and soles of my feet start to itch, I get very "sick" and feel as though I'm going to pass out and have to lay on the floor feeling as though I'm going to die until it subsides. The last time it happened it occurred 3 times in a row and I ended up with atrial fibrillation and had to be hospitalized. I'm normally a healthy person and this has been a worry for me for the past several months. I just saw my Dr. today and she said that I have the classic symptoms of vaso-vagal response. On one hand I'm relieved that it's not something more serious but on the other hand she didn't offer any real solutions. Because it's the same time of each month it looks like it's hormonal and I'm in my 40's and starting to have some menopausal symptoms. Before today I've been scanning the internet for any information that sounds like what I've been experiencing but haven't found anything. Today reading about vaso-vagal and what other people have experienced I don't feel so alone and scared anymore. Now I just have to figure out what I can do to keep this from happening. I've stopped drinking wine (I only drink a glass or two once a week) and cut way down on my caffeine. I'm also a bit cautious about eating out because a couple of these episodes occurred after eating out. I just wanted to post my story and say what a relief to find out that I'm not alone. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!
