Last Tuesday, I was at the opthamologist getting my eyes checked due to a minor eye problem. The doctor examined my eyes, then said he wanted to dilate my right eye. He put in the following drops: phenylephrine, 1 drop and Tropicamide, 1 drop. A few minutes later I told the nurse, I feel dizzy and nauseus. The next thing I knew, I had passed out and was being awakened by the doctor. I felt horrible, cold, clammy, wet and terribly nauseus. I threw up repeatedly. They took me by ambulance to the ER. EMT started an IV drip and gave me Phenagan for the nausea. At the hospital I felt woozy and out of it. Bloodwork and an EKG came out ok. They are saying it is a very atypical reaction to the eye drops. What do you thinK? By the way, I continue to feel alittle dizzy and tired and weak even days later.
