From:
I recently underwent breast reduction surgery. While recovering during post op I had three fainting episodes. Two resulted shortly after getting out of bed (sitting up and after standing) and one while resting comfortably. The final episode resulted in what has been described to me as "seizure activity". My head was twisting back and forth and my arms were flailing. Bizarre images transmit through my brain and when I awake I am sweating heavily, have laboured breathing and feel like I might have just died. It was very alarming and frightful. I was seen by a neurologist who only checked my pupils, my reflexes and asked me some minor questions about my health. He does not believe that I had a "true" seizure. He believes it was a combination of the anasthetic and pain medications administered (demerol). I am six days post op and continue to feel naucious and tire easily. I want to pursue this further but do not know where to start. I was always a fainter as a kid but these recent activities have taken a whole new meaning to "fainting".
