I have had episodes since I was a teenager, I am now 41. Several of my family members have the same episodes of stomach pains in the night which lead to a feeling of wanting to vomit and have diarrhea at the same time all while feeling faint and feeling like you have a 175 degree body temp. I pass out 99% of the time. I never knew until I had a cerebral angiogram and afterwards felt faint and passed out and my heart stopped beating. They called it a Vagus Nerve response and it was at that time I was told that the episodes I have at home are the same thing and that my heart most likely stops beating each time I pass out from an episode. I have found over the years that most of the attacks are from eating greasy foods and if I take a Zantac or similar med with the meal I can ward them off. Also, if I feel one coming on and take a Pepto-Bismal tablet, sometimes the symptoms will go away. Perhaps I have taken this too lightly, but I was always told it was IBS and normal...until the angiogram made me think twice!
