A few days ago I was in the hospital for a breast biopsy, following a suspicious mammogram... It was the first day of my menstrual period, and I had not had anything to eat or drink since the night before (as preop) I am 49 years old and have never lost conciousness before. The radiologist came into the x ray room and injected my breast with benadryl, then inserted a needle and awire into my breast to localize the site of the suspicious area for the surgeon. he left the room and the tech began taking another film when I atually felt the drug that had been injected basically "rush to my head" and began to black out. I was sweating profusely and my hands and feet were drawn up into claws, the tech called for help and fanned me, and the nurses came and started an IV, and the doctor injected me with atropine . I came to after the atropine.
