"vagal episode"

Dear Dr. Herr, A friend told me about your website because of a diagnosis that was given to me by a doctor in the E.R. I had been home, sick for a week from allergies (could not function...something that had never happened to me before!) I then went to the dentist to have a crown prepped, which took a couple of hours. That night, I experienced rapid heartbeat and anxiety that would not go away. My daughter called my doctor and he told her that I should go to the E.R. She took me. By the time I was there, I was feeling better. The doctor told me I had had a "vagal episode". I didn't understand exactly what he meant. I later checked up and found out that a vagal episode had something to do with allergies and trauma to the lower, back portion of the skull...around the area of my crown position. I must admit, it made me feel better to think that my vagal episode was a physical thing and not just "mental".
