I posted an article earlier about my 4 months old who had vomited in his sleep and had what we think was a VVR.Temp was 35.8 C rectally and was pale and limp. His doctor said if I hadn't found him as he was vomiting I could have lost him. I don't know if that is because his heart rate would have dropped so low he could have had a prolonged apnea episode or if he would have choked to death he was so weak i don't think he could have helped himself.I also had a niece die of SIDS last year so I have the same ? and would an autopsy show it if VV caused or attributed to the death? I know reflux can trigger VV and as peds RN I have dealt with many babies who were treated for acute life threatening event who ended up having reflux. You can call the American SIDS Association and ask if it has been researched.
