and i thought the doctors were giving me the runaround

I thought the doctor's were just being lazy when they said i was vasovegal, but here now I find that I am not alone. Which is quite comforting for me. I had a black-out episode last thursday night and fell and hit my head, resulting in a shoulder injury and a nasty concussion. These episodes make me feel really helpless and vulnerable, as the episode itself may not harn me but a fall or accident following a black-out could. Is there any preventative measures I could take to curb these episodes? They are brought on by such a wide variety of things that I am not sure what I should/should not be doing to avoid them.
