Local Anesthesia Induced Vaso vagal response

I had a bad experience with my dentist several years ago. He put in some Lidocaine and 10 seconds later I experienced a warm flsh feelingt in body and then I get lightheaded, sweaty with cold sweat all over my body with some graying of vision. I never passed out. I have had this same experience on several occassions in the dentists office and at my dermatologists office for a procedure with local anethesia. While I have never passed out-I feel as if I came as close as you could to passing out-actually-I felt as if I was going to die. It is frustrating because no matter what I do-the response comes. The only thing that seems to have worked is to take a Xanax before the procedure-it seems with this the episode is very mild and resolves quickly. Thus, while it certaintly is a physical condition which is involuntary, it appears that severe emotional responses derived from a bad physical experience with the trigger in the past induced the same. If anyone has ever experienced this, try a sedative before your procedure-it has helped me.
