VASO-VAGAL REACTION

From: A PETER

Comments

A friend of mine has had 2 episodes of what I can only think is a vaso-vagal reaction, although the symptoms differ slightly from those described on your home page. Both episodes have happened in the middle of the night, when she has woken with severe abdominal pain and a sense of faecal urgency and nausea. She has made a hurried visit to the bathroom , passed a very watery stool and then passed out and found herself on the floor. Both times she has been too weak to get herself up and has had to call her husband to help her. She has gone back to bed and woken with a dull headache the next morning. She is in her mid-thirties, a full time teacher with a heavy workload and tends to get very stressed in busy times. She often has hypotensive episodes for which she uses Effortil and suffers from migraines which can be stopped with a homeopathic remedy if caught in the aura phase I have recommended that she see her GP as soon as possible for a check up. In your experience, is this a common vaso-vagal reaction or does it sound more sinister?
