From: Lisa and Johnnie
My husband has had 4 episodes over the last 5 years that seem to be a vasovagal response. It starts with dizziness, then anxiety, then severe sweating, a feeling of needing to pass out and possible loss of bowel function. Two episodes were while giving blood, one was at a dentist's office after having a difficult tooth pulled and the most recent was at a party in a rather stressful situation. Giving him sugar or carbohydrates did not seem to help. Lying down did and he soon recovers. His heart rate drops down very low, he gets very pale and his skin is very cool. He does remember the whole thing and it is very frightening for both of us. His doctor said his sugar seems fine but suggests a cardiologist give him a 24 hr heart monitor and a tilt table test. Do you think these will help? What about a thyroid or adrenal cause?
